Driving Offences: Fines

Volume 488: debated on Wednesday 25 February 2009

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice what proportion of drivers with foreign-registered cars did not pay fines for motoring offences in (a) 2006, (b) 2007 and (c) the last 12 months. (256395)

Financial penalties for motoring offences can take the form of a fixed penalty notice issued by the police or a fine imposed by the courts.

Information held centrally by the Home Office on fixed penalty notices issued by the police does not identify where a vehicle is registered. In addition it is not possible from the information held by the Ministry of Justice to identify separately the payment rate of court fines arising from specific offences.
