To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families of those pupils achieving A* and A grades at GCSE, how many were at (a) comprehensive, (b) independent and (c) grammar schools in each of the last five years for which figures are available. (247780)

The following table shows the number of pupils at the end of key stage 4 achieving at least one A* or A grade at GCSE and the number of these pupils who studied at comprehensive, independent and grammar schools.

To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families with reference to the answer of 6 June 2007, Official Report, column 496W, on educational attainment, (1) how many (a) maintained secondary schools and (b) independent secondary schools fell within each percentage point in terms of the proportion of pupils at the end of key stage 4 who achieved seven or more GCSEs at A* to C including English and mathematics in 2008; (248565)

(2) how many (a) maintained secondary schools and (b) independent secondary schools fell within each percentage point in terms of the proportion of pupils at the end of key stage 4 who achieved nine or more GCSEs at A* to C including English and mathematics in 2008.

To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families with reference to the answer of 30 April 2007, Official Report, columns 1468-69W, on GCSE, if he will list the bottom 200 schools in terms of proportions achieving five or more GCSEs at A* to C including English, mathematics, science and a modern foreign language.
