Crimes of Violence: Crime Prevention

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many woundings were reported in each of the four cities targeted by the Tackling Gangs Action Programme where the weapon used was (a) a gun and (b) a sharp or pointed instrument in each of the last three years. (263192)

Available data for Manchester, Liverpool, London and Birmingham relate to offences recorded at police force area level by the following forces: Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Metropolitan and West Midlands. Figures in the following table are based upon headline figures presented in tables 1.03, 1.13 and 2b of “Homicides, Firearm Offences and Intimate Violence 2007/08” (HOSB 02/09), and table 3.09 of “Crime in England and Wales 2007/08” (HOSB 07/08).
