19. To ask the Secretary of State for Justice with reference to the list of ministerial responsibilities of November 2008, what responsibilities the Under-Secretary of State in his Department has for policy on identity cards. (263765)

My responsibilities have been to ensure that the Ministry of Justice’s interests in relation to identity cards are communicated to the Identity and Passport Service, and that the Ministry’s operational arms are able to accept the cards as valid forms of identification.
