To ask the Secretary of State for Justice what budget savings are planned in each (a) prison and (b) young offender institution over the next 12 months. (266861)

The total planned savings requirement for 2009-10 from prisons and young offender institutions is £64.2 million, 3.4 per cent. of budget. These savings have not yet been allocated to prisons and are held at area level.
