Housing Benefit: Elderly

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions (1) what his estimate is of the number of individuals over the age of (a) 65 and (b) 68 years who will receive housing benefit in (i) 2020, (ii) 2030 and (iii) 2050; (267276)

(2) who will receive council tax benefit in (i) 2020, (ii) 2030 and (iii) 2050.

1. These projections are of the number of benefit units in receipt of housing benefit or council tax benefit in the UK, with at least one person over State Pension Age. In 2020 State Pension Age will be 65, in 2030 it will be 66 and in 2050 it will be 68.
