To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families how many teachers took early retirement benefits under the Teachers' Pension Scheme in the last five years for which figures are available. (272652)

The following table provides the number of teachers who were awarded early retirement benefits from the Teachers' Pension Scheme in England and Wales in each year from 2003-04 to 2007-08, the latest year for which figures are available.
