Intelligence Services: Publications

To ask the Prime Minister pursuant to the answer of 11 May 2009, Official Report, column 495W, on intelligence services: publication, what facilities the security and intelligence agencies are authorised to afford to persons undertaking research for publications which are not official publications; at what level, and in what circumstances, members of the security and intelligence services are authorised to grant (a) interviews and (b) other assistance to such persons; and if he will make a statement. Arrangements governing the release of information into the public domain by the security and intelligence services are in accordance with the requirements of the Security Service Act 1989 and the Intelligence Services Act 1994. Copies are available in the Libraries of the House.
