To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what estimate he has made of the volume of carbon dioxide emissions from offices in his Department in (a) 2006-07 and (b) 2007-08 (i) in total and (ii) per full-time equivalent member of staff. (280931)

In 2006-07 the total carbon emissions for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office UK estate was 14,430 tonnes of CO₂ emissions (CO₂e) equating to 3.8 tonnes of CO₂e per full-time equivalent member of staff (FTE).

In 2007-08 total carbon emissions were 14,502 tonnes of CO₂e, equating to 3.8 tonnes of CO₂e per FTE.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what estimate he has made of the volume of carbon dioxide emissions arising from road-based transport used for administrative operations by his Department in (a) 2006-07 and (b) 2007-08 (i) in total and (ii) per full-time equivalent member of staff. In 2006-07 total carbon emissions for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office arising from road-based transport within the UK were 332 tonnes of CO₂ emissions (CO₂e) equating to 0.09 tonnes of CO₂e per full-time equivalent member of staff (FTE). In 2007-08 total emissions were 260 tonnes of CO₂e equating to 0.07 tonnes per FTE.
