To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department with reference to the answer of 29 October 2008, Official Report, columns 1087-88W, on human trafficking, how many (a) arrests and (b) convictions there were for human trafficking offences in each police force area in England and Wales in each of the last five years. It is not possible to break down the arrest and convictions for each of the last five years.

Figures from the UKHTC indicate that since the inception of the dedicated legislation, there have been a total of 568 arrests for human trafficking offences which have resulted in a total of 114 convictions. The figures for the number of arrests which are set out by force area below include 100 cases on which the outcome is not yet known.
