To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government which proposals in his Department’s White Paper, Communities in control: real people, real power are not planned to be implemented. (282389)

The White Paper Communities in Control was published in July 2008. We currently do not have plans to take forward a number of minor proposals from the White Paper, namely on remote attendance and voting by councillors, payments for councillors on loss of office, and incentives to vote in local elections.

On June 1 2009 we published the “Communities Progress Report” which recorded the substantial progress achieved in the implementation of “Communities in Control”. We will continue to review the implementation programme for the White Paper as it develops.
