Departmental Billing

Volume 495: debated on Monday 29 June 2009

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence pursuant to the answer of 18 May 2009, Official Report, column 1171W, on departmental billing, how much his Department's non-departmental public bodies paid in interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 in the last three years. (282332)

The Ministry of Defence has five service museums classified as executive non-departmental public bodies (NDPBs) that receive Grant in Aid from the Department. During the financial years 2005-06, 2006-07 and 2007-08, no interest was paid by any of these under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

This does not include any payments that may have been made by commercial trading arms associated with the museums as these are not funded from Grant in Aid and therefore outside of the remit of the Department.
