To ask the Secretary of State for Health what estimate he has made of the cost to the NHS of obtaining out of stock medicines in the latest period for which figures are available; and if he will make a statement. (286532)

While the Department has not specifically made an estimate of the costs to the national health service of obtaining out of stock medicines, the Department is in discussions with the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee regarding the difficulties pharmacies are facing in obtaining some medicines.
