To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he has discussed the application of economic sanctions to Sri Lanka with his counterparts in other governments in the last two years. (287204)

We have held wide ranging discussions with partners in the international community on the situation in Sri Lanka, but there have been no formal discussions at the EU or UN on economic sanctions. There are currently no economic embargoes or sanctions in place against Sri Lanka. It is important to ensure any action does not adversely affect the Sri Lankan people themselves.
