Construction: Inspections

Volume 497: debated on Tuesday 13 October 2009

To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government whether he plans to bring forward legislation for additional competent persons schemes in the current Session. (289552)

The Building (Amendment No.2) Regulations 2009 (S.I. 2009/2397), which were laid before Parliament on 8 September 2009, have authorised competent person schemes for the installation of a wholesome cold water supply and for the installation of a supply of non-wholesome water to a sanitary convenience fitted with a flushing device. These schemes were authorised to support the changes made to Part G of the Building Regulations (sanitation, hot water safety and water efficiency) by the Building and Approved Inspectors (Amendment) Regulations 2009 (S.I. 2009/1219).

There are no plans to authorise further competent person schemes in the current Session.
