Crimes of Violence: Driving Offences

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what estimate has been made of the percentage of violent crime that involved the use of cars by uninsured drivers and drivers who had previous driving convictions and bans in the latest period for which figures are available. (289962)

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what estimate has been made of the number of cases of violent crime which involved uninsured drivers in the latest period for which figures are available. (289964)

Data are available for 2008-09 for offences of ‘Causing death by driving: Unlicensed, Disqualified or Uninsured drivers’ and there were six offences recorded by the police in England and Wales. However, it is not possible to separately identify which deaths, if any, were caused by uninsured drivers.
