Climate Change: Bangladesh

Volume 497: debated on Tuesday 13 October 2009

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change if he will seek to place on the agenda of the forthcoming Copenhagen Conference the subject of assistance to Bangladesh to cope with the effects of climate change. (291271)

[holding answer 16 September 2009]: In the climate negotiations in Copenhagen in December the UK Government will be striving to ensure that the poorest and most vulnerable nations, like Bangladesh, receive the help they need to adapt to the impacts of climate change. My right hon. Friend the Prime Minister has called for significant climate finance for developing countries to be part of the Copenhagen deal, with a significant proportion of public finance going to support adaptation for the poorest and most vulnerable countries.
