General Practitioners: Training

Volume 497: debated on Wednesday 14 October 2009

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many GP surgeries have (a) applied for and (b) been granted funding to upgrade to become training practices in each strategic health authority area; how much has been granted to each successful surgery; and what assessment has been made of the effect of the length of implementation timescales on the (A) number and (B) quality of applications. (292077)

The number of general practitioner (GP) surgeries that applied for funding and the amount awarded to each practice is not available centrally.

More than 800 GP practices have been granted funding to improve and extend training facilities, significantly more than 600 envisaged at the outset of the programme.
