Lorries: Safety

Volume 498: debated on Monday 26 October 2009

To ask the Minister of State, Department for Transport whether heavy goods vehicles are required to be fitted with class V mirrors. (295012)

All large goods vehicles, above 3.5 tonnes gross mass, first used after 1 January 2000, are required to be fitted with a class V (close proximity) mirror on the passenger side. There are some exemptions but only for those vehicles where the class V mirror cannot be fitted at least 2 metres from the ground.
