Young People: Jobseeker’s Allowance

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office how many people in Bexleyheath and Crayford constituency had been claiming jobseeker's allowance for (a) less than six months, (b) between six and 12 months, (c) between 12 months and two years and (d) more than two years on the latest date for which figures are available. (294261)

The information requested falls within the responsibility of the UK Statistics Authority. I have asked the Authority to reply.

As National Statistician, I have been asked to reply to your Parliamentary Question asking how many people in Bexleyheath and Crayford constituency had been claiming jobseeker's allowance for (a) less then six months, (b) between six and 12 months, (c) between 12 months and two years and (d) more than two years on the latest date for which figures are available. Table 1, attached, shows the number of computerised claims of Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) for people, aged 16 or over resident in the Bexleyheath and Crayford constituency on 10 September 2009, broken down by the duration of the claim.
