Overseas Aid: Rescue Services

Volume 498: debated on Thursday 29 October 2009

To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what search and rescue missions to non-EU countries were undertaken by the Urban Rescue Team with UK registered search and rescue dogs in each of the last five years. (296379)

The Department for International Development (DFID) has been involved with two missions that have used UK registered search and rescue dogs. These were following the earthquakes in Pakistan in 2005 and in Indonesia this October. DFID does not have a record of all occasions that UK registered search and rescue dogs have been deployed.
