To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he has made of the cost to the Exchequer of raising the inheritance tax threshold to £1 million per person and £2 million per couple in each year between 2010-11 and 2015-16; and if he will make a statement. (297323)

The cost of increasing the inheritance tax threshold to £1 million with effect from April 2010 is estimated at £500 million in 2010-11, £1.2 billion in 2011-12, £1.4 billion in 2012-13 and £1.5 billion in 2013-14.

Forecasts beyond 2013-14 have not been made.
