Volume 502: debated on Monday 14 December 2009

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what legal firms his Department used to draft the contracts for the National Programme for IT; and for what period each was contracted. (304238)

Allen and Overy, and DLA (subsequently DLA Piper), were appointed in December 2002 to participate in the drafting and negotiation of contracts which formed the National Programme for IT, and were entered into between October 2003 and January 2004. These were the five original local service provider contracts, together with the Spine, N3 network, and e-booking (later Choose and Book) contracts.

Since that time the Department has continued to receive legal support from DLA Piper in connection with the work of the programme. The appointment of Allen and Overy ceased in June 2006.
