To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what assessment has been made of the likely effect on the housing market of the lowering of the threshold for stamp duty. (305930)

The stamp duty holiday was designed to provide Government support for homebuyers. The stimulus it offers relies on it being temporary. The Government expect 240,000 transactions to have benefited from the holiday when it is brought to a close at the end of December.
