To ask the Secretary of State for Health how much was spent per head on cancer treatment and services in (a) England, (b) the South West Strategic Health Authority and (c) each primary care trust within the South West Strategic Health Authority in each financial year from 1997-98 to 2008-09. 1. PCT-level Figures for 2003-04 are net expenditure per head of unified weighted population. PCT-level figures for 2004-05 onwards are net expenditure per head of unified weighted population, adjusted to add back expenditure from sources outside the national health service and to deduct expenditure on other PCT's populations incurred through lead commissioning arrangements.

2. SHA-level expenditure per head is calculated using the combined expenditure and population figures of each PCT within the SHA area.
