Health Services: Isle of Man

Volume 504: debated on Monday 18 January 2010

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will reverse the decision to discontinue the reciprocal health arrangements between the NHS and the Isle of Man with effect from 1 April 2010; and if he will make a statement. (311112)

We are not minded to reverse the decision to end the current bilateral health care agreement with the Isle of Man, which was taken on economic grounds, as it does not represent value for money to the United Kingdom taxpayer.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what recent representations he has received from the Isle of Man Government on his Department's decision on the discontinuance of reciprocal health arrangements between the NHS and the Isle of Man with effect from 1 April 2010; if he will meet Members of the House of Keys to discuss the decision; and if he will make a statement. (311113)

Following representation from the Isle of Man Government, my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State is due to meet with a delegation from the Isle of Man Government on 19 January 2010.
