Since the Government Equalities Office was created in October 2007, we have run three campaigns. The first was to encourage more Black, Asian and minority ethnic women to become councillors, from July 2008 to July 2009, at a cost of around £89,000. The second was to raise awareness of new flexible working rights between April and September 2009, at a cost of around £126,000. The third is to encourage more women, people from ethnic minorities, and disabled people to apply for public appointments. This campaign started in November 2009 and will end in March 2010 at an estimated cost of £150,000.
