To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make it his policy to recognise Moroccan sovereignty of the Western Sahara. (312848)

The Government regard the status of the disputed non self-governing territory of Western Sahara as undetermined, pending UN efforts to find a solution that provides for the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara. In this regard, the Government fully support the efforts of Christopher Ross, the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy to Western Sahara.
