Nosratollah Tajik

Volume 504: debated on Thursday 28 January 2010

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what discussions his Department has had with representatives of banking and financial institutions in respect of the request from the United States for the extradition of Nosratollah Tajik; and if he will make a statement. (308281)

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department on what occasions there have been discussions with representatives of other Government departments on the request from the United States for the extradition of Nosratollah Tajik; and if he will make a statement. (308282)

Officials have discussed this case on a number of occasions with representatives of other Government Departments.

Mr. Tajik has exhausted all avenues of appeal against extradition under the Extradition Act 2003. He has made further representations in relation to his health; the Home Secretary has no general discretion in relation to the case and accordingly the sole issue which falls to be considered is whether it would be a breach of the European Convention on Human Rights to extradite.
