[holding answer 29 January 2010]: The British Transport Police (BTP) have powers to issue two types of fixed penalty, fixed penalty notices (FPNs) and penalty notices for disorder (PNDs). FPNs are primarily for road traffic offences; the BTP rarely prosecute for these offences and, where they do, they do so by summons rather than fixed penalty.
The amounts received by the BTP in respect of PNDs issued in England and Wales are as follows.
£50 fines £80 fines Total 2006 23400 85920 109320 2007 37150 143120 180270 2008 37900 131600 169500 2009 42500 146640 189140
Information on the split between penalty notices issued in England and those issued in Wales is not held centrally.
