To ask the Minister of State, Department for Transport what consideration his Department has given to the merits of redeveloping London Bridge station so as to allow South London Line services to continue to operate from that station. (317019)

It has always been recognised that it would not be possible to reconstruct London Bridge station within its current footprint without removing some of the terminating platforms, and thus reducing the number of trains that could use this part of the station.

If additional services from the South London Line were to be routed into the London Bridge station this would require a further expansion of the station which would be cost-prohibitive potentially require additional land and would require further planning consents.
