Schools: Health Hazards

To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families what guidance his Department provides to schools on the effects on children’s health of mobile telephones. (316542)

We have made available for schools the precautionary advice of the Independent Expert Group on Mobile Phones together with clarifications obtained by the Chief Medical Officer. These confirm that children less than 16 years of age should be discouraged from using mobiles phones for non-essential calls since they are more likely than adults to be vulnerable to any unrecognised health risks.
