To ask the Secretary of State for Health what assessment has been undertaken of the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence Guideline on Schizophrenia, updated in March 2009, in respect of its compliance with (a) human rights and (b) mental capacity legislation relating to choice on whether to take medication. We have made no such assessment. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence is an independent body and is responsible for ensuring that its guidance is compliant with relevant legislation.
