Households: Pensioners

To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government what estimate he has made of the number of households with a pensioner head of household in each tenure sector in (a) 2006-07, (b) 2007-08, (c) 2008-09 and (d) 2009-10; and what proportion of such heads of household was an owner-occupier in each of those years. (319337)

Estimates of the number and proportion of households with a pension age householder in 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09 are given in the following tables. Data for 2009-10 is not yet available. The 2006-07 and 2007-08 estimates are based on data from the Survey of English Housing; data for 2008-09 is from the English Housing Survey.
