Falkland Islands

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent discussions he has had with his US counterpart on the Falkland Islands; and if he will make a statement. (321835)

None. We have no doubt about our sovereignty over the Falkland Islands and surrounding maritime areas. The principle of self determination underlies our position. We are, of course, in regular touch with the US at official level on this and many other issues. The US continues to recognise the UK's administration of the Falkland Islands. Positions are long standing, unchanged and well known.
