The Wreck of HMS Victory

Volume 508: debated on Wednesday 24 March 2010

The wreck of “Balchin’s Victory”, lost in 1744, was discovered in the English channel in 2009. In view of the unique importance of this find for naval heritage and the intrinsic value of the wreck as a cultural artefact, the Ministry of Defence and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport are issuing a public consultation paper on the future management approach for the wreck site. The consultation paper will be available through the websites of both Departments, and can be found at: Publications/ConsultationsandCommunications/Public Consultations/

Hard copies of the paper are also available on request.
