On the announcement of a general election, the Cabinet Office issues guidance on the handling of departmental business during the pre-election period, including on advertising and marketing. Until the announcement of the general election, advertising and marketing will be conducted in line with the “Propriety Guidance” for government communications, a copy of which is in the Library of both Houses.
