Baroness BURTON of COVENTRY
asked Her Majesty's Government:Whether they have inquired into and, if so, whether they will make a statement upon the amount and type of publicity given by British airlines to the travelling public concerning the recently adopted scheme for overbooking compensation; and whether they consider this to be adequate.
Lord ORAM
My Lords, this is a voluntary scheme and publicity is primarily a matter for the participating airlines. The question has received some Press coverage and I understand that the airlines will provide details on request. I am also advised that where passengers are denied carriage due to overbooking and are eligible for compensation the airlines give them a full statement of their rights.
