asked Her Majesty's Government:How much money will be saved per annum if the decision to close the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital is implemented; and how much money would be saved per annum if the same number of beds were closed at the Parent District Hospital.

There has been no final decision to close Uxbridge Cottage Hospital (24 beds); the decision is in principle only and subject to consultation. The current cost per annum is £103,000. The average cost of a 30 bedded ward at the Parent District Hospital is £41,000. The proposal is to absorb the workload of the former into the remaining hospitals in the area.
