asked Her Majesty's Government:Whether they will withdraw from Scottish Prison Regulations the provision permitting disciplinary diets, thus bringing the practice in Scotland into accord with the Regulations for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

It is the intention to do so at a convenient opportunity for the revision of the rules. Special diets have not been used as a punishment in the Scottish penal system since 1971.
