12 Schedule 1, page 15, line 24, leave out 'and employees of solicitors in private practice' and insert '; ( bb) apprentices of, and legal trainees employed by, solicitors'.

13 Schedule 1, page 16, line 15, leave out 'their staffs' and insert 'persons employed to assist such directors in the performance of such of their functions as relate to probation schemes within the meaning of section 27 of that Act'.

My Lords, beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendments Nos. 12 and 13. Perhaps I may move them en bloc. Amendment No. 12 makes apprentices and legal trainees the only members of a solicitor's staff who are to be ineligible for jury service. Amendment No. 13 makes ineligible for jury service only those social workers and their staff who are definitely engaged on probation work. I beg to move.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said amendments.—( The Earl of Mansfield.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
