Brittany Ferries And Subsidies

asked Her Majesty's Government:Whether they are satisfied that Brittany Ferries receives no subsidies from the French Government or the EEC.

The EC does not make any direct subsidies to Brittany Ferries. Her Majesty's Government have no information on whether any subsidies are provided by the French Government.

Probation: Proportion Of Sentences

a) young adult offenders and ( b) adult offenders, sentenced by magistrates' courts and Crown Courts respectively were given probation orders in 1969 and 1979.

(1) 1979 figures reflect the implementation of Part III of the Criminal Law Act 1977 on 17th July 1978; the discontinuity in these figures is very small.

Trident Programme: Estimated Cost

asked Her Majesty's Government:What is the latest estimate of the cost of the Trident programme, in January 1981 pounds; and whether they will give an analysis of how this amount is distributed over the years 1981–82 to 1989–90.

The cost estimate for a four boat force, at current prices, is some £5 billion spread over 15 years.Up to 1990 inclusive it is considered that a little over £3 billion would be spent.

The Advisory Committee On Home Working

asked Her Majesty's Government:Whether they will reactivate the Advisory Committee on Homeworkers, set up by the preceding Labour Government, which is reported not to have met since the general election.

The future of the Advisory Committee on Homeworking is under consideration pending the outcome of research.House adjourned at ten o'clock.
