Survey Of Marginal Land In Wales

asked Her Majesty's Government:Whether the Welsh Office Agriculture Department, in their survey of agricultural marginal land areas in Wales have surveyed or intend to survey all land classified as Grade 4 and Grade 5 on the Agricultural Land Classification map which lies outside the areas designated under the EEC Less Favoured Areas Directive in those counties which presently contain areas designated under that directive.

The survey extends to all areas of mainland Wales which lie outside the present less favoured areas.

asked Her Majesty's Government:

  • (i) Whether the Welsh Office Agriculture Department in their survey of agricultural marginal land have surveyed or intend to survey all land classified as Grade 4 and 5 on the Agricultural Land Classification Map which lies outside the areas designated under the EEC Less Favoured Areas Directive in the County of Gwynedd.
  • (ii) If the Welsh Office Agriculture Department in their survey of agricultural marginal lands have surveyed or intend to survey land classified as Grade 4 and 5 on the Agricultural Land Classification Map on Anglesey in the County of Gwynedd.
  • The survey of Gwynedd at present excludes Anglesey. The case for extending the survey to cover the island will be examined after the mainland study has been completed.
