  • (c) what is the total public cost of administering crofting, including grant aid and loans; and
  • (d) what is the cost of the Crofters' Commission.

    The information sought by the noble Lord is as follows: —

  • (a) 13,987 (at 30th September 1983);
  • (b) 885,000 hectares, including common grazings;
  • (c) £5·7 million in 1982–83;
  • (d) £0·75 million in 1982–83.
