asked Her Majesty's Government:How many British service personnel, if any, are or have been since May 1979, seconded or have otherwise served with official approval in the Republic of South Africa.The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Armed Forces (Lord Trefgarne): No British service personnel have served with official approval in the Republic of South Africa since May 1979 apart from those working in the defence section of the British Embassy in Pretoria.
