asked Her Majesty's Government:What is the average infrastructure cost, including schools, policing, Health Service provision, and road and motorway construction, improvement and maintenance, per new dwelling in Berkshire and Cleveland respectively.

Information on local authority infrastructure costs can be found in Capital Expenditure and Debt Financing Statistics 1986–87, and on revenue costs in Local Government Comparative Statistics 1987. Both are published by the statistical information service of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and are available in the Library of the House. Information on completions of new dwellings can be obtained from the respective county and district councils in Berkshire and Cleveland.
