asked Her Majesty's Government:Whether they plan to substitute kilometres for miles on road signposts and, if not, why imperial road measurements of length are not taught in schools.

We have no plans to change to metric distances in the UK. The mathematics National Curriculum requires pupils by the age of 11 to understand imperial units still in daily use and their approximate metric equivalents.
