The members of the Northern Ireland Authority for Energy Regulation (NIAER) were appointed through open competitions under the monitored kitemark scheme of the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland (OCPANI). The appointment details are as follows.

The chief executive of the NIAER, Mr Iain Osborne, is also a member of the authority and was appointed on 23 August 2006 with OCPANI approval. One member of the authority lives in Northern Ireland.
