Sport: Youth Sports Trust

Volume 689: debated on Tuesday 30 January 2007

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many of the 11 initiatives they awarded with a value in excess of £20 million to be undertaken by the Youth Sport Trust during the three years 2003-04 to 2005-06 were subject to competitive tendering under the joint Department for Culture, Media and Sport and Department for Education and Skills programme; whether independent value-for-money studies have been undertaken; if so, by whom; at what cost; and when they took place.[HL1399]

The Youth Sport Trust carries out a range of work related to PE and school sport for young people on behalf of the Departments for Education and Skills and for Culture, Media and Sport. Grant is paid under conditions set out in a financial memorandum. None of these work programmes for which grant is paid to the Youth Sport Trust has a value in excess of £20 million.
