Shipping: MSC “Napoli”

Volume 689: debated on Tuesday 6 February 2007

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will hold a public inquiry into the beaching of the cargo ship “Napoli” and the preceding decisions not to tow the stricken ship to closer ports of refuge either in the United Kingdom or in France. [HL1696]

My honourable friend the Minister of State for Transport, the Minister with responsibility for shipping, made it clear on 21 January that he considered there was no need for a public inquiry.
